Quick Claim Deed - after divorce

Posted on: 10th Jul, 2012 09:38 am
Hello,
I divorced my ex-husband 2 years ago after 20 years of verbal abuse. In court, the judge awarded me all interest in our property and custody of both children since my ex-husband never appeared for any court hearings. I am trying to re-finance my house and may have to sell it. My lawyer, at that time, filed the "Dissolution of Marriage" with the judge statement that ownership to be transferred to me, but the re-finance bank wants a copy of a quick claim deed stating only my name on it.

I no longer have the attorney nor the means to hire one to ask how I can get this, as my ex-husband is nowhere to be found, and even if so, I know he would not sign anything.

I live in CT and would appreciate any feedback and guidance you may have to offer.

Thank you very much.

Welcome Guest,

Your ex-husband should sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you. As you don't know where he is, it will be better if you could contact an attorney and take his help in this regard.

Hi Guest!

Welcome to forums!

I agree with Adonis. It will be better if you could contact an attorney and take his opinion in this regard. He is the best person to guide you as to what actions you should take.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
