Will a quit claim deed work for me?

Posted on: 09th Feb, 2009 07:23 am
My family owns some land. We have already done a survey and now it is a minor lot subdivision. It is basically 2 lots. I live on the back lot in a mobil home and my parents live on the front. We would like to put the back lot in my name so that I can eventually build a house on it.
Hi carwiles,

A quitclaim would be a very good option for you. If the back lot portion of the land is in your parents name, they need to sign a quitclaim deed which will transfer that portion of the property to you without any hassle.
