In my opinion Debit is always better than credit. That doesn't mean credit is bad thing, Its depended on, How we use it?

I think using a debit card is much better than credit. With debit at least the
purchase is paid for in full with no interest.

Credit card may turn out to be good option if you are purchasing a good and if the interest is calculated only after 52 days of interest free period.but keep in mind that credit card should not have any monthly recurring charges.
