ex took out home equity
so I am trying to help my gf-her ex took out a home equity loan without her knowledge-divorce degree said he must pay it-he stopped paying it so my gf was forced to pay it as she did not want home foreclosed and he had no assets.-he then since has died-my gf never signed off on the home equity loan to begin with-any chance she can get out of this mess?

Yes, she can get out of the mess but first find out whether or not she's been included in the home equity loan agreement. If she's on the loan papers, then she can stop making the payments, but she'll lose the home over foreclosure eventually and hurt her credit score in the process.
