Loan Point USA misleads people. After being shady that the loan can be paid down, they are stating that is not their policy; therefore, monies being paid are only to extend the loan. Without checking one has already paid off the loan in just paying the loan extension fees. This is highway robbery. Attorney General need to look into this company

Hi Pf,

You will have to contact the lender somehow and try to resolve the matter. Unless you contact them, you won't be able to get rid of this issue.

Hi james!

Welcome to forums!

If you've completed the loan application process in full, then you will be getting the mortgage. You should contact your lender and ask him to originate the mortgage asap.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

If the Congressman can be of assistance, that'll be wonderful of course, but a lawyer is also a beneficial person with whom to speak, certainly.

Home buyers can makes their own assessments to see if they really can afford to take up a certain mortgage. A home loan calculator, which can be found on most bank websites, is very useful here. It can calculate how much a home buyer can borrow and how much he needs to repay over the course of a certain period of time. However, do note that the figures provided are estimates only. Also, it’s a good idea to provide a buffer.

hriley, you need to go to your banking department in the state government to get this taken care of. bbb might work on your behalf and help you be refunded some money, but the banking department will put fear into their behinds and they'll act faster, one would hope.

i trust you moved your money out of that account in the meantime.

This company charges a $150 "extension fee" which will take $300 or more from your account each month for a $400 loan. If you try to block them they will change the amount by a few pennies and continue to deduct!! I have paid them over $1100 on a $400 loan and they still are asking for $400 to be paid in full, even though they deduct $300 or more from my account each month! I had to close my account and file an consumer complaint against them!

DO NOT USE LOAN POINT USA! DON'T DO IT!

My husband took out a $500 loan from them in June of '09. They took $250 out of each of his paychecks. 3 total withdrawals, one being the money they charge for taking the loan out. So when the $750 was taken out my husband assumed it was paid back.

Fast forward to this year and we get a letter in the mail from lawyers saying we owed $1250 to Loan Point USA. So we call them and they say that because we didn't make payments online we kept getting charge because to them the loan wasn't paid in full. So on top of paying back the original $500 and the extra $250 we then supposedly somehow owe them $1250.

The lawyer knocked it down to owing $500 and said we'd be square but basically that means my husband took out a loan for $500, paid back that $500 and then had to pay an EXTRA $750.

This "business" is criminal. They ought to be sued. Do not use them unless you feel like throwing your money away. You might as well just take it and flush it down the toilet.

peapod, i understand your position, but you have to recognize that the loss of your job doesn't suddenly void your obligation to repay the debt. it's annoying, unpleasant and disruptive to get phone call after phone call from a creditor (or creditors), but they're simply doing their jobs. you promised to pay back, and i'm sure you will when you have the funds to do so, but they must make every effort to work out a deal with you or to persuade you to send them whatever you can whenever you can.

for you to have told them you're not working is a terrific thing to do. most collectors will take that information and cease the calls for a specified period of time...not all, of course, but it's worth being on the level with them.

At my last job in accounting the co. I worked for used PayPointUSA to process transactions. They were amazing. We switched to them after out other processing co. double charged some clients then didnt charge others at all. I have since looked in to their small buisness loans and am impressed though I have not acctually taken on a loan with them....yet but because of the very positive previous experience when the time comes they are who im going to be calling on.... I hope that helps!

debra, don't you think it's high time you stopped paying them? you've paid $1980 back on a loan of $600? don't you think you've been ripped off enough yet?

if you can't get through to them and you stop making these payments, they'll contact you one way or the other if they feel the need to receive more money from you.

it would be a very wise thing to close out any bank accounts that they are aware of and which they may be taking funds from. you can even keep the same bank and expressly state that no withdrawals are allowed except by yourself at all times. your bank/credit union can fill you in on the method by which you can do this.

Hi Nikki,

Payday loan laws vary from state to state. May be, in NJ, they have been declared as illegal. So, they have stopped the lending of payday loans in NJ.

Thanks

My husband not knowing what he was getting into with this company has completely been ripped off. He borrowed during a time of our need thinking he was helping out our family during the time I was unemployeed. He borrowed $600 and has already paid back more than $1500. Under the advisement of our bank, they have told us to close out our account and reopen a new one, and they are assisting us with filing a complaint with the attorney general against them.

I lost my job so when I called them to ask where to send the pay off by money order they said that I could not do that and they needed a new account number. DO NOT use this company because they just want access to your account and since I have been using them they must have gave my information out because other companies were doing ach withdraws. I told them that the phone call is being recorded so they hung up on me. BTW one of the offices for this company is in a Hotel room.

Don't make the same mistake I did. They continue to take money from your account even after you have paid your loan in full. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against them.

We received a loan for 700 dollars in mid December and they began debuting 210 dollars every two weeks from that point. On 7/14/2011, they took 910 dollars from our account without explanation!! When I called the company to tell them there must be some mistake, I was told that they couldn't do anything about it and they didn't see where that amt had even been posted!! Also, the woman I spoke with said that we had only made 7 payments when in fact we've made 15 payments equalling over 3100 dollars!! I was put on hold believing someone was trying to help but it turns out she went to take another call. I spent almost 3 hours going through this and she then would put me straight to voicemail. I haven't been able to get help from anyone there. I filled out an unaurhorized affidavet through my bank but it will be at least a week before they can put our money back in account and in the mean time we are without money!!! We had even put stop payments on our acct a couple of weeks prior because we knew our loan ahouldve been paid off months ago but they lowered the amt they normally take out by a penny and took it out a day earlier so the stop payment didn't do us any you'd because it has to be for the exact amt that comes out. I'm thinking about getting a lawyer and I'm actually acquainted with Congressnan Miller here in Florida so I may talk with him as well. I'm very upset about what has happened and I want to stop this from happening to someone else. Any suggestions on my best course of action?

Have you engaged any legal assistance in regard to this? You are well-advised to do so in order to kill any further requests for money. You can always turn to your state's attorney general's office for information on how you can beat this foolishness.

Hi Racergirl,

Your best option is to immediately contact a lawyer and take his opinion in this matter. It is good to note that you're going toward that direction. The lawyer will let you know what legal actions you should take against them.

Thanks

You should contact the BBB and the State Attorney General's Office and file a complaint against them.

Thanks

Maureen, that's a most peculiar situation. The Better Business Bureau won't be much help in retrieving any money taken, but the AG's office surely can help you. You ought to check with any Consumer Protection office your state might have as well...register your complaint and find out what assistance they can render.

well this company, one morning sent someone to my husbands work to serve him with some papers for court. we didnt know what it was about but they left a name and number to where this lady, I guess she was an attorney hired for this company to recover unpaid loans.. well as far as we know we never pulled out an online loan and never had a bank account with the last four digits she had told him over the phone. Now we are having to deal with a fraud situation here, but still having to go to court for this loan in the amount of $950.00! what is so puzzling is that they will not give us the whole account number in which this loan was deposited into. We talked to the people at the bnk and they said in order to further the investigation they would need the whole account number but this "lady" will not give us that information. This is a message for all the people that do all their billpay and everything else online... IT HAPPENS!!

I took out a 400.00 loan. I called them after the window to pay out. When i called them they took a patial payment so i paid 320.00 in two days. During the same call I gave permision to pay off the remaining balance. They didn't take it. They have now received a total of 620.00 from me and continue to debit my account. I have contacted my bank and stopped all transactions from them. They won't take the full payment and were continuing to draft my account.

Hello Drugger,

If you file a complaint with the state AG, it will help you stop them from taking out money from your account. But that will happen only if the AG finds them guilty. It will take some time i guess.

Hi Drugger,

Welcome back to forum.

Yes, you can file a complaint about their illegal activities of garnishing your account to an attorney general. He will surely investigate into the matter and help you to prevent such garnishment.

Why they are saying that they did not receive the amount in time?

If you had given them the permission to take out money then there should not be any problem with it. Did they provide any explanation/reason because of which they have not received the amount in time?

Hi Guest,

When you have lost your job just after receiving the loan, you may face problem in continuing the payments. So it is better if you cancel the loan.

There are some states like Washington where you can change your mind and cancel the payday loan within one day. So if you fall in that state, you can easily cancel the loan.
