Geneva Roth Cap - Beware of loan shark

Geneva Roth Capital Inc. which is also known as Loan Point USA ("http://www.loanpointusa.com/" ) is a payday loan company that carries out its own collections. Based at Utah, the company is reported to be a loan shark by several consumers who have shared their experience with the company in our forums.

There have been several complaints so far from customers regarding illegal activities of Geneva Roth. Here's why debtors feel that Geneva Roth is a loan shark:
  • The company often over charges its customers and withdraws money from their accounts repeatedly even after the loan payment is over.
  • The company also keeps changing its contact information due to which customers make repeated calls but fail to get any response from Geneva Roth.
  • Geneva Roth somehow gets access to bank accounts not related to the loan and debits money from such accounts.
  • Even if consumers do not apply for Geneva Roth loans, the company somehow gets access to their accounts and forcefully deposit loan funds without even sending any paper agreement to the debtor.
If you are in problem while dealing with the company or if you need to make an enquiry on your payment, loan balance etc, talk to a customer representative at the Geneva Roth toll free number.

In case you don't get any response from the company, or if they continue with their illegal activities, file a complaint with the FTC, BBB or your State attorney General. And if you'd like to share your experience with Geneva Roth - good or bad, feel free to post it below.

I need to contact geneva roth about a payday loan I need a phone number.

Let me start by saying I NEVER HAD A PAYDAY LOAN NOR DID I EVER RECEIVE MONEY FROM ANYONE, so to say that "only broke people that need money" were affected by this is WRONG.. I woke up today to see that my account was debited $400 from this company and I never heard of them in my life. I called the company and they wanted my ssn, when i refused to give it they hung up on me.. I haven't got ahold of anyone since, and I have tried. If you research the name lpusa or Loan point USA it will tell you that this has happened to plenty of people who never applied for any sort of loan...

without doubt, if you believe you have been scammed, you ought to reach out to the attorney general's office in your state and report precisely what happened to you.

bbb is, in my mind, overrated. that's not to say it would be bad to report to them also, but it won't go anywhere near as far as getting the ag in your state involved in the case.

Just checking in on this conversation after a long absence. I see that Vrina posted favorable information on the company. How odd is that?

I find it hard to believe that "bank fees" for loans are far worse than what Geneva Roth Capital might charge, but I suppose it's possible. I will agree with her assertion that people don't understand what they're getting into with payday loans; that's pretty evident by all the posts we've seen on this company and a wealth of others.

Buyer beware! If you don't know what you're getting into, you shouldn't be getting into it - that's pretty simply said, but it's an effective truth. Unless someone knows precisely what a payday loan is and the harm it can cause if one is not careful, then such a loan ought to be the very last thing on an agenda.

It seems to me tha Geneva Roth Capital is getting a bad rap here. I have used this company numerous times. I have found they are very upfront about fees, (yes payday loans are expensive). I think too many people apply for these loans without understanding the fees. Unless you go online to your acct 4 days prior to pmt due date only the interest pmt will be deducted. You have option to input what additional amt to principal you desire to pay. Bank fees are even worse than these loan companies.

Most people who are dissatisfied with the company are the one's who do not read the contract. I work for the company and I know what the complaints are about. Most of the time clients call in wondering why their account has been debited. We explain that if they had not failed to read their contract, they would know that unless they make good on their previous loan, they can't take out another. It seemes the people who are most frustrated with the company are the ones who think they have the right to free money. That is just not the case. Legally that money previously taken out rightfully belongs to GRV. It states in the contract that by signing this agreement you give us the legal right to withdraw funds from any account bearing your social security # and name until our funds are paid back in full. That type of action ONLY happens if the account comes to collections. So lets be very clear on the issue of GRV not operating lawfully. If the client agrees to the terms of the contract without reading the contract and then defaults on the loan, is it any suprise that our company gets a bad rep. The truth is that most people whom I speak with every day have not read their contracts. In fact I work in collections and I have never had one person tell me they have actually read their contract. We are making a concerted effort to change the quality of our business by adapting a more customer service feel to our approach. We hope this will aide us in a better future with out clients and hopefully a better reputation. Thank you. X

well i wont' go so far as to suggest that sify loan company is a loan shark, as the title to this thread refers, but i will opine that their's is not a truly professional company - strictly based on the poorly written, nonsensical drivel i see in that advertisement.

the best thing i can say about them (without knowing a thing about them) is that their name rhymes with the newly-renamed syfy channel. maybe it truly is all about science fiction.

Don't borrow money! Try not spending beyond you means and saving a buck or two. It seems only people that are broke are complaining about these companies. Do you think they look for broke people, then force them to take their loan? Aren’t you adults? Did you call your bank when mysteriously $400 appeared, no, you went out and bought $400 worth of clothes you could afford.

They cannot access your account if you don't give them you bank account number. If they do, close your account and contact the attorney general to file a complaint. They would have to prove you asked for a loan. I have not heard one complain from someone that does not “need” a loan. Common thread, these are broke people claiming they did not borrow money. Why do broke people always want to blame their problems on someone else?

The deal is that when you apply for a loan ITS A 2 WEEKS pay back...Not four weeks or 4months.. read your contract.. And If you want to cry about paydays stop applying on line goto your local payday where YOU have to WALK inside .... Nobody wants to hear they took my money i cant feed my kids, I cant pay my car well guess what.....everyone is in the same BOAT and if your worried about fraud.. why in the heck you put your personal info out on the web. Im sure if you paid he loan off ON TIME that there would not be in PROBLEM. When you go long then then contract and you DONT pay the loan well that when you get all the crying from people!!! Your paycheck its not going to change so when you borrow 300-500 on a loan and your next pay check cant pay for it DONT APPLY!! sound simple to ME........ A.H

so, "X" you think the whole problem is people not reading their contracts. well, people don't read contracts with auto dealers, mortgage lenders, credit card companies, etc., yet they seem to be able to navigate through all those waters without the frustration expressed in the posts here about geneva roth cap.

now i understand what you're saying, because people simply don't understand finance in large part, and i'm gratified to see that you're trying to be more consumer oriented so that the bad reputation can be eliminated. but i also see unauthorized withdrawals being cited, the change of contact numbers for your company (huh?)...a lot more than what is caused by simply neglecting to read a contract.

the above paragraph ought to tell anyone that tony belly is a money lender who is only interested in dealing with those who are most desperate. in that way, he can manufacture reasons to run you ragged with fees, outlandish interest rates, and much trouble.

of course, lenders want serious candidates for their loans - that goes without saying. but to say it draws serious doubt from this corner.

Well... not sure if they are licensed in FL. The lender will charge you a interest rate which is available in the market. The lender may not charge you an over the top interest rate.

Hi JCHOLDER,

If the creditor has the details of your account, he can deduct money from it in order to recover his dues. If you've taken a payday loan, then you need to payback the creditor within the given time period. If you are unable to do so, the creditor would try to recover the dues by debiting money from your other accounts.

Thanks

I agree that it's completely illegal on the part of payday loan company to debit your mother's account in order to recover their dues. In my opinion your mother should file a complain with BBB and your State Attorney General regarding such activities by the company.

Hi Ktmnt,

There is a thread (http://www.mortgagefit.com/discuss/rioresource.html ) in our forums from where you will get the detailed address of Geneva Roth along with the people experiences.

I personally suggest you to not go for payday loan. Try to find out any other alternative option if possible to get the loan.

And taking payday loan from this concern may not be too good choice. People called Geneva Roth Ventures as Loan Shark Company. Many of our community members have some bad experience with him.

Thanks

Most of the things you mentioned in your writeup about Geneva Roth, has occured to me in my dealings with them. I never filled out any paper work, and received a loan. I paid on the loan every two weeks, and still had the same balance. They never disclosed any thing to me on the terms of the loan. After paying them their principle and interest, I closed my bank account. Then they started harrassing me on my cell phone, and at my work. Threatening me with legal action in California court. Also Treats to my wife and children.

Geneva Roth just automatically debited $650.00 from my checking account because they said they are members of the National Banking whatever and any account with my name and social on it, they have access to. I am in the process now of trying to get my money back. They did two different transactions on the same day. The guy I spoke with said they are pre-legal whatever for payday loan companies. Help me on this one?

You should put your complaint with FTC, BBB and the Attorney General's Office regarding the money taken out of your account. Also dispute the debit made from your account with bank.

Hi lah,

Seems strange enough! How can the Geneva Roth people debit cash from your account this way? Not sure whether they are member of National Banking.

I have even heard people saying that GR is a loan shark company; you need to find this out. Just approach the local office of the Better Business Bureau and enquire about them. The people there will be able to tell you if Geneva Roth a member of National Banking.

Thanks,
James

Elton,

If you are looking for the amount from Geneva Roth then I would say it won't be a wise idea.

They don't have a very good reputation.

I think you should get in touch with your bank about the amount you need.

Hi Elton,

I think you are looking for a loan of $2000 to pay off bills. You can go for any secured or unsecured loans but do avoid payday loans. With such loans, you will only end up paying more and more.

Thanks

I had an account with Geneva Roth two years ago. I fell on hard times and still have a balance on it. I have recently opened a new banking account and found that they withdrew money out of it this morning. when I asked how they got this account information they said that they are a member of the National Banking something or other and have access to any banking account that I have and can go in it at anytime to withdraw money I offered to pay the 300.00 I owe but they are only accepting $1100. Is this legal can they force me to pay all these extra fees and access any account I have at any time to get the money. This new account I have was not the account I had when I had the loan. HELP ME

You should inquire with your bank about the access this company was provided to withdraw money from your account. Also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and your state's Attorney General.

Even I don't understand anonymous.

This company has been harassing debtor for a long time. None can make out what they are actually trying to do. And how easily can they get access to anyone's account.

I think you should try to contact them and find out what they have to say.

all:

geneva roth capital, inc is also known as loanpointusa.com.
it is a payday loan website. however, they are located in Utah and not Kansas. The numbers provided by previous posters is correct and so is the email of "tjohnston@loanpointusa.com".

if you are still having problems, contact the Utah State Department of Financial Institutions at the following phone number:

801-538-8830.

I was having problems with Geneva Roth taking money out after I paid it off. I also couldn't find a number so I went to my bank and showed where I had paid it off and I signed a dispute affadavit and my bank is going to deal with Geneva Roth for me. You may also want to get your bank involved. They helped me.

i think that's a good way to deal with companies doing illegal things as reported by customers. But I must say,the bank has been very supportive on your part.
