I cant pay the mortgage due to job loss. Contacted the lender to see if I could get a modification but was turned down because they said I wasnt "desperate enough". What can I do?

Either you can contact an HUD-certified housing counselor or a local federal government office of the Home Affordable Modification Program to deal with your lender.
