reverse mortgage age requirements

My husband is 75 and is paying a mortgage on a primary residence. I am not on the loan. I am 55. Do I have to be 62 for my husband to qualify even if I am not on the loan?

Your husband can qualify alone for the reverse mortgage as he is 75 years of age. In that case, your name has to be removed from the property deed as you're 55. Once you attain 62 years of age, you can add your name back to deed and both of you can even refinance the reverse mortgage.

No I don't think so. The person who takes out the loan should be 62 and above.

If it's your husband who'll qualify for the loan, then you needn't worry as your age won't really be of any concern.

The others are incorrect.  Beginning February 1st, Lenders aren't allowing Reverse Mortgages if one of the spouses isn't 62, if both spouses have ever been on Title.  If the youngest spouse has never been on Title, the 75 year old can get a Reverse Mortgage.
