Be careful, Savior. Any time you provide a direct answer, you stand in the position to be criticized for being too stern. Trust me in this...I know.

You really must be one of the most patient people ever to keep responding or just board. You've answered this problem in every conceivable way. Anyone who can read will find their answer. Obviously you have more talent and experience that could be better utilized elsewhere on this site??[/b]

meme i feel you. what we don't see, though, is someone who has been through the wars and has a testimony to tell all of those who don't know what to do. i agree that it would be great if someone could come back and fill everyone in on what to do, what not to do, what questions to ask, and on and on.

believe, i am keeping the faith; those ugly comments are blips on the radar as far as i'm concerned.

When you call HUD to check on your status in california, you are completely stonewalled. YOu will get no info at all. That's why people are on here asking questions. So Mr. Akerley, things in california are not like where you are...try some compassion.

Hi Linda,

Did you contact the local Housing Authority through which you applied for the Section 8? They can provide you with the information regarding the current status of your Section 8 application. Which state and which county are you in? If you can give that information, someone might be able help you with more information.

Bob, if you see no compassion here, then I'm wasting my time trying to help people who can't seem to find the answers they need. I definitely know I'm wasting time reading posts that criticize me without anything valuable to say to anyone else. If you can't help anyone, why not just let those of us who actually try to do so continue? Your commentary really isn't helpful at all.

Look all of u, If you havent foundout anything from your local office try this waitlistcheck.com. If it lets you login then you have been approved section 8 and havent recieved a letter stating so. I know it works for ppl in TN so it might work for you. And if you cant get Section 8 and u need assistance try checking into the HPRP program. This is a special help and assistance line *211. Ur Welcome.

Hi angela,

You need to contact local Public Housing Authority of your state in order to know the status of your Section 8.

Thanks

when someone asks for help on this site, it becomes my business because i am striving to help. however, when the question that comes in is completely out of the scope of this site, it needs to be said. someone looking for section 8 information for a specific situation is not going to get the help needed here. we don't have access to such information, and the person asking needs to go to the local community where the section 8 request was made to begin with.

your post here, guest, is not helpful. it is imperative that someone seeking section 8 assistance know where to go for information. if a person filed in a particular place, that's the place to go for information. i recognize that there are those who lack sophistication and are simply searching for help, but this is not the place where such help can be found. it's that simple.

the "way" i am is to try to help those who need it wherever i can. if you have issues with my stance, there's nothing i can do about it. c'est la guerre.

Eveltyn, I have no experience personally with Section 8, but from the remarks that show up on this thread, I guess it ought not to be much of a surprise to know that a year or more will pass before there's any information. Nevertheless, you ought to call the local office to find out what you can.

George... The reason people are asking these questions is because in most places the Section 8 department of HUD is "CLOSED", you cant get any information from the pre-recorded message that tells you to wait until your contacted!

Thanks

red, you ought to go to your local housing office to ask that question. are you asking for yourself or for someone else?

please note that this site is called "MortgageFit." it is intended to be a community for people who are or desire to be homeowners (or used to be), with professionals in the real estate field also playing a part. it is not intended to be a forum for renters, though those questions come up all the time, and are treated with the proper respect.

honestly, you'll find that the most efficient way to get an answer to your question is to go to the municipality in which you live and ask the housing department.

Welcome NAYDA,

It is the Public Housing Authority of your area who will be able to let you know about the status of your section 8 filing. I don't think anyone here will be able to help you in this matter.

George, I sat here, quite honestly, for over 20 minutes reading through these postings. WOW- agreed w/ Chadwick, you have remained very professional and have been beyond helpful!!!!!! With the amount of postings asking for Section 8 help I think by now, 2010- someone connected to this website would have been able to direct these folks in need, to a page that says the EXACT same thing you keep pointing out again and again so 1). They can get on with their business; and 2). YOU, George, will slow down the "carpal tunnel" soon coming your way from all your well-meaning replys. Well said earlier, that your efforts to reply to "other" Just As Meaningful questions from folks would well be better served!!! I don't know much about web design but, geezzee, give this man a break! [and ESPECIALLY for the 'misguided' people that believe your site can answer their Sec. 8 questions!] Good Luck, George, you are seemingly a caring person trying to help. Unfortunately, [u:3e8a3219bd]some [/u:3e8a3219bd]people displace their anger - & it comes your way.
GOD, Bless us All!!!!!

Hi Gisela,

The Section 8 housing assistance program is a HUD initiative which aims at helping low-income families find an affordable home. If you want to get Section 8 assistance, you need to get in touch with your local Public Housing Authority or your nearest HUD office.

Your eligibility for the Section 8 assistance depends on your annual gross income, the size of your family, etc. Generally, your family’s income should not be more than 50% of your county’s median income. This income level varies from one county to another and is published by HUD.

However, it does take time for you to get the Section 8 assistance. While you apply for it, you should try and rent an affordable home on your own.

Hi Eboni,

You need to check with the local Public Housing Authority through which you applied for the Section 8? They should be able to provide you with the required information. Which state and county are you living in?

Hi marian,

As Niicss has suggested above, you will have to contact the Public Housing Authority and know the status of your section 8 application. They will let you know whether or not your application is accepted.

Take care.

Hi Lawrence,

You need to check out with the local housing authority through which you applied for the Section 8 housing assistance. If you can tell us where you applied for it, someone might be able to provide you with the details regarding who you can get in touch with to know the status of your application.

Hi Frances!

Welcome to forums!

Once the property deed is transferred in your name and you pay the sale price to the present owner, you'll be able to move into the property.

kayla, our site here doesn't have the information you want. where did you apply? that's where you need to go back to in order to get the information you need. it's probably your best bet to do an internet search to find the local phone number (look up under "housing authority" for whatever city you applied in.

None of us in this community can help you in knowing the status of your section 8 application. You need to contact your local PHA in order to know the status of your application.

martha, i was not "getting smart" with anyone. it is readily apparent that those seeking section 8 help aren't going to get much help on here. the MortgageFit website has nothing to do with section 8. it is merely a forum for people to discuss topics worthy of note. obviously, section 8 qualifies as one of those topics.

but none of those who are asking how their application is going, etc. will find any valid information here. that is a situation that absolutely must be brought up with the housing agency of the location in which they've applied.

why you had to end your post with an expletive is incomprehensible to me. let's face it...i cannot help someone with the status of their section 8 request. i can, however, suggest ways in which to find that information out. that's all i'm trying to do.

Hi arsineh,

I don't think anyone from here will able to give a reply to your query. It will be better if you could contact the PHA (Public Housing Authority) and get to know the status of your Section 8 application.
