section 8 application status

Posted on: 12th Mar, 2009 12:19 am
I would really like to know the status of my section 8 application. I applied a few years ago. I have a prospect number. But I dont know where to go to check it.I went on hacla.org. But i dont see a link to check status. I also would like to just update my information because I now have a 1yr old.
You will have to contact the Public Housing Authority (PHA) of your area in order to know the status of your section 8 application.

sorry, stephanie, but your status is best determined by asking the right people. please follow niicss' suggestion that you contact your local housing authority. as i mentioned in my prior post, you can look it up with a simple google search.

Hi marian,

As Niicss has suggested above, you will have to contact the Public Housing Authority and know the status of your section 8 application. They will let you know whether or not your application is accepted.

Take care.

I understand that it should be accessible to, be able to call your local housing authorities, to check the status of an application. But Unfortunately the state that I live in HAS open and closed dates for this type of information.YES it is very sad that they keep dates, hours, and times hidden ,Yet instill its a goverment program. I almost positive that If I called they will say that there are NO openings! PLEASE SOMEONE CALIFORNIA NEEDS MAJOR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER!!!!!!!!!!

this is a topic that is best addressed to your legislators - the people who make the laws. call your local representative, and if you don't know who that is, you really, really, really need to find out so you can have a voice in these matters. you're on the internet, shaniece, so do an internet search to find out who is involved in your state government from your locale and contact that person's office right away.

George please take it easy....some people don't care to read your comments. If they can't figure out the answer to their simple question then just let them wonder.

"just let them wonder" - boy that's a very helpful scheme, isn't it? it would make no sense for me to not give anyone some direction. as for taking it easy, that last post i made was instructive and not at all critical of the person who had inquired. i simply pointed out that citizens have the right to discuss situations such as this with their legislators - their representatives - to try to work out the problems. is that too harsh? well, if pointing people in the right direction is harsh, at least i am confident enough in myself to tell you precisely who i am. i can take the heat - i will continue to give out good advice, even on those occasions when it may hurt.

we've already been told that in this life there will be pain; i don't intentionally set out to be the inflicter of pain, but if that's the shoe i must wear, it will fit.

meme i feel you. what we don't see, though, is someone who has been through the wars and has a testimony to tell all of those who don't know what to do. i agree that it would be great if someone could come back and fill everyone in on what to do, what not to do, what questions to ask, and on and on.

believe, i am keeping the faith; those ugly comments are blips on the radar as far as i'm concerned.

I totally undertstand you gmakerley, but the truth of the matter is that when we do try to contact and follow up, either the phone lines are always busy or no one answers the phones. Truthfully when we are being offered "HELP" with affordable housing is like pulling strings just to get across and just be told we need to continue to wait.

thank you, ingris, for your explanation. i've been blessed and never had to deal with this sort of issue, so i can only try to understand the difficulties you have with it.

what you describe makes me think it's that much more important to let the legislators know what's happening, so that they can (at least) try to take steps to correct the situation. i know there's no money out there in government set aside for the people who need it most - that's always been the case; but it's vitally important that the word be made known - that the system is failing and it needs help at the very least, and perhaps a full makeover.

if that guy can go on tv and do makeovers on people's houses and become a major celebrity, then why can't the government(s) get their affairs in order regarding section 8?

and, pray tell, is it only california that's in trouble? from our posts, it sorta seems that way. but i'd bet it's pretty much an epidemic across the nation.
